I don’t feel the need to say much about myself, but I understand that you are supposed to give a little info so people know where you are coming from (though I imagine that will come through in my posts). I am male and live in Gainesville, Florida. Over the years I have been involved in various social, political and environmental activist groups. I have a few degrees from different schools (none from University of Florida). I worked for over 10 years as a wetland biologist, before going back to school to get a degree in Social Work. I recently completed my Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) and I am currently working as a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern in a local medical clinic. I really enjoy Social Work and the opportunity to connect to and learn from people that I would otherwise be isolated from due to societal norms. My politics are definitely on the leftist side and I like to believe I am an open, independent thinker. I have a social life & hobbies too!
I’m trying this as an outlet for my thoughts, so you should be able to find out more about me through my posts.
Feel free to e-mail me: blog(at)taroman.com.
Oh, and why taroman you ask? Am I from a small village in East Timor? No, it is based on wild taro (Colacasia esculenta), an invasive exotic plant in Florida Wetlands. When I was studying wetland biology, we had a grant to restore an area of the Little Wekiva River near Orlando Florida. Part of this effort was hand removal of wild taro. I noticed the sap made stains on my clothes & ended out writing ‘TARO’ on my formerly white t-shirt. This was around the time I got my first internet account & I chose taroman as my first e-mail address. I have stuck with that on the internet since (though no one ever calls me taroman in the real world…yet).

Taro -
Dude! I’m lovin your site. I check it every once in a while and really do like it. Even if i did not know you, I would dig it (no pun intended). Where are the music files? I would like to just grab as many as I can and drop them into itunes but cannot find them. No worries tho I can use the dvd’s. ONE LOVE!!!
Ironic enough, Taroman is the name of one of my fantasy book characters. Coincidence or what?
LOL, great site anyway!
No one calls you Taroman in the “real” world YET! But that will soon change. Happy birthday Taroman. Love your blog…beautiful photos, sweet pup pups and lots to think about. I’ll soon be back, looking forward to watching the rest of the sketch videos. Very interesting for sure. Peace.
